August Birchbox Review

There's only one month of summer left, and it's time to start transitioning my beauty routine to prepare for fall. A big part of my end of summer and early fall beauty routine is getting a fresh new haircut to start the season off right. My hair grew back super fast this summer and I'm really looking forward to cutting it short again to make it easier to maintain during windy and cold weather.

This months Birchbox was very aligned with my typical end of season transition because the box was all about hair and helping perfect your locks. My box included a few great hair products, as well as some makeup products I can easily incorporate into next seasons routine.

The Details

My Takeaway

Since this box was all about perfecting your hair, Birchbox included two products to help with styling your hair. The first product is Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer. This hair primer is made to help detangle, de-frizz, and defend your locks against heat damage. Living in a city where it's cold a majority of the year I have to blow dry my hair completely before leaving the house. Because of this my hair is left feeling damaged from the heat of both my blow dryer and hair straighter. This primer feels very light on your hair and a little goes a long way. I like to use this on my hair when it's still semi-wet and let it sit for 10 minutes before I start drying my hair. I'm hoping the more I use this product the less damage I'll see on my hair between cuts!

The second hair product included was the Aprés Beach Wave and Shine Spray by Oribe. I've actually been dying to try this product by Oribe so I was super excited to see it in my box. After testing out this spray it definitely makes my list for favorite curly hair products. My waves not only look phenomenal, but also have so much volume I low key look like a lion!! I honestly love it and this is one of those products I will be purchasing to continue to use.

Alongside these great hair products, I received some new makeup to help enhance my fall routine. These items include the goof proof brow pencil by Benefit Cosmetics, Trick or Treat Concealer by Hey Honey, and The Day Dream Palette by Manna Kadar Cosmetics

I already started using the goof proof brow pencil and really like the look. The pigment goes on very smoothly, making it easily to blend in. I like to put this pencil on to fill in some holes on my eyebrows and then I go over it with my Benefit Cosmetics gimme brow volumizing eyebrow gel to lock in the look. I highly recommend using both! Whether you only have a few spots you need to touch up, or you want to line your entire brow for a dramatic look, these products work wonders in both occasions.

I haven't opened or used the Hey Honey concealer or the Dream Palette by Manna Kadar Cosmetics yet, but from the reviews I've read both are fantastic! I did try on the palette on my wrist to see the color and I do like how it has more rose-gold hues making it a great highlighter color for fall.

Super happy with this box! It was a good mixture of products. I'm very curious to know what other hair products Birchbox sent out this month so shoot me a note at and share!
