April Birchbox Review
They say April showers bring May flowers! And while we haven't been experiencing much rain in SF (except for some heavy misting in the morning), Spring is definitely in full effect.
I can't speak for everyone, but this Spring has really had an affect on my body. Between battling with new and old allergies, uncomfortable dry hands and unusually oily skin, I’ve been left dabbling in a mixture of different beauty products to try and keep up with my ever changing body.
That’s why when I opened my April Birchbox and saw some of the face products featured I was beyond ecstatic to jump right in and test them out.
- (MALIN+GOETZ) grapefruit face cleanser
- amika Touchable Hairspray
- Milk Makeup Gel Brow in Pilsner
- Peter Thomas Roth Acne-Clear Invisible Dots
- The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick
I really liked the products in this box. I'm already a big fan of (MALIN+GOETZ). I've been using their clarifying clay mask for a little while now and I can't begin to explain how soft my skin feels. It's also helped reduce some of the oil on my face so it's a win-win in my book. So I'm very much looking forward to trying out this grapefruit face cleanser. From the description this product is seen as a "triple-threat cleanser that dissolves dirt and oil, clears acne, and balances skin's pH"...um....YES PLEASE.
Another product featured that I've used before is the amika Touchable Hairspray. Unlike other hairspray, this one is super light (hence the "touchable" hairspray) and super easy to play around with when you're styling your hair. I tend to use this spray when I leave my hair naturally curly so it keeps the frizz down while keeping my hair soft vs. stiff.
As for the other goodies included in the box, I'm pretty pleased with the selection. I've recently been having some problems with adult acne (ugh) so the PTR acne clear invisible dots will sure come in handy.
Keeping your eyebrow game strong is super in right now so I'm super curious to test out the Milk gel brow pencil. I'm currently using Maybelline's Great Lash Clear Mascara to define my eyebrows and keep them in place. I don't typically use products that have color on my eyebrows because they're already pretty full, but I'll see how this product goes!
The one item in the box I'm not super crazy about is The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick. I'm not a fan of the color, and...dare I say it?!...I hate PBJ sandwiches and even though this is supposed to smell like "guava" I can't get the smell/taste of PBJs out of my head so this definitely isn't something I'll be trying. Sorry PBJ.
Overall great Birchbox this month! It was nice having a box with a variety of products to help in every aspect of my beauty routine this season. Whether I'm trying to fight off adult acne, perfect an updo hairstyle for my next date night, or just make sure my eyebrows are on fleek, I know I can turn to the items in this box for help.
